Aquatic Organizations

These groups are the heart of the fish-keeping community. For many members of these groups it is a passion. They are the elder statesmen. They influence and shape the hobby by their commitment, involvement, and active support of fish-keeping. Responsible husbandry is a topic they understand and, more importantly, practice. If you don't currently belong to a local organization you should consider joining one. You will be introduced to a community of individuals in your area that will assist you in gaining an understanding of your fish and aquaria.

The push for accurate information at the retail level requires the support and involvement of the members of associations and societies. We are working to develop a resource center so that we can more effectively keep associations and societies up-to-date on our latest activities. And, we are beginning the discussions so that we can provide information to utilize in their publications, websites, and during meetings.

We have begun to compile a directory of the various organizations across Canada and the United States. We are utilizing existing websites to assist in our efforts. If you don't see your association on our list we will be happy to include it. Simply click the "Add Us!" link below and complete the appropriate information. We will send you useful tools and information that you can share with all the club members to help achieve our very basic goal: honest, accurate, and complete information. Talk to the officers and other members of your group. Discuss the topic. Encourage others to join in with letters. Think about ways your club can get the message out locally. We will be updating the list regularly.
